Binghamton, NY–area bassist and composer Thomas Westcott has been an active presence in the upstate New York music scene for over 30 years. Doubling on both electric and upright bass, Thomas is a familiar face on regional stages and a consistent contributor to a wide range of recordings.
Thomas is a founding member and bassist for the improvisational jazz/funk outfit Ultra Vibe, which has released two albums—A Moment in Time, Volume 1 and A Moment in Time, Volume 1: Live—as well as the EP Under the Influence: A Go Go. He also performs regularly with Mike Davis and the Laughing Buddha Episodes and appears on the group’s most recent studio album, Find Yourself: Caterpillar. Thomas is a contributing composer and bassist for the band’s upcoming release.
In addition, Thomas performs regularly with the Nashville-based Brian Golden Blues Experiment, appearing on the group’s last two albums, The High Divided and Binomial, as well as the single Got No Time, which is featured on the debut release from Golden Soul Review.
Performance highlights over the years include collaborations with blues guitarists Michael Hill and Murali Coryell; Central New York singer-songwriter Jamie Notarthomas; Schoolhouse Rock! creator Bob Dorough; NYC/Texas vocalist Glenda Davenport; jazz guitarists Eric Divito and Dennis Winge; singer-songwriter Devinne Meyers; rock and progressive phenom Randy McStine; and Grammy-nominated guitarist and longtime Gregg Allman musical director Scott Sharrard.
In 2025, Thomas began writing and recording his own original material. His debut release, Coming Home, is currently available on all major music platforms.
